Sam serves as Senior Advisor to the Private Investment Group, after serving until June 2012 as co-head of the Private Investment Group, and as a member of Baupost’s Management Committee. Prior to joining Baupost, Sam was an independent advisor, developer and investor in real estate ventures. Sam held a research appointment in Real Estate at the Harvard Business School from 1978 to 1980. Sam graduated from Stanford University, received his MBA from Harvard Business School, and his Masters in Architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is a member of the Dean’s Leadership Council at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, a former Trustee and member of the Executive Committee of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and a former Trustee and Overseer of the National Braille Press, The New England Conservatory of Music, The Trustees of Reservations, The Massachusetts Farm and Conservation Land Trust, The Harvard Real Estate Academic Initiative, and The Boston Foundation for Architecture.
